In this laboratory-based role, you will support the ongoing drug-discovery programmes by maintaining, characterising, and performing viability assays on various cancer cell lines for cell-based research. The post holder will have significant responsibility for supporting the research team and will use their extensive experience in cell culture for duties including but not limited to maintaining cell cultures, banking cell stocks, optimising cell lines, performing viability assays and support of databases.
- Culture, expansion, and maintenance of cell cultures of adherent and suspension culture systems across multiple projects using aseptic technique.
- Optimisation of cell lines for doubling time, seeding density etc.
- Performance of viability assays (CTG, CFA etc.) in cancer cell lines.
- Maintenance of cell line databases, keeping inventory and supplying cell stocks to internal and external groups.
- Generation and maintenance of complete and accurate records in a highly organised manner.
- In-depth experience of maintaining and working with various cancer cell lines.
- Knowledge and experience in running viability assays.
- Experience in data analysis and interpretation.
- Excellent laboratory documentation/notebook organization and critical thinking skills.
- Adaptable, enthusiastic, and approachable.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal).
- Excellent numeracy and IT skills.
- An ability to work both independently and as part of a research team.
- Excellent time management skills (schedules, timelines, task prioritisation) and a positive approach to changing priorities.

- Strong attention to detail with ability to work meticulously and with minimal mistakes.
Qualifications required for the role: BSc/MSc or equivalent experience within a relevant scientific discipline.
